THE QUESTION IT HELPS YOU ASK

Did the test gain ground,
or meet resistance?

01 / THE CONCEPT

A test beyond the extreme.
A response worth reading.

Rejection starts with price exploring beyond a recent high or low. It evaluates the test, the closing response and the traded order flow together.

The reference gives the test its meaning.Explore the two sides of a rejection reading.

A QUALIFYING EVENT CAN SHOW

Bearish Rejection

The test above the recent high is meeting resistance. The marker describes the rejection evidence around that test.

The location matters.

A wick is only part of the picture. This reading is tied to a test beyond a rolling recent extreme.

A marker does not establish the next move or guarantee a reversal.

MORE THAN A WICK · EVIDENCE ASSESSED TOGETHER

The exploration

How far price reaches beyond the recent extreme.

The closing response

The wick, the close and movement back toward the reference.

The footprint evidence

Absorption, opposing delta and the support for continued progress.

The competing picture

Evidence of acceptance or a breakout can temper the reading.

Concept illustration, not a signal formula or a trading result. The close back inside shown here is one example of supporting evidence, not a separate requirement for every marker. Reference line, geometry, marker styling and colors are illustrative.

Read the response to the test.

A bearish reading concerns a test above a recent high; a bullish reading concerns a test below a recent low. The indicator evaluates price and traded volume. It does not reveal hidden stop orders or prove that a particular participant is trapped.

03 / CHOOSE THE RIGHT READ

A similar reaction.
A different starting point.

Reversal-style tools can examine different evidence. Rejection begins with the location of a test beyond a recent extreme.

Rejection

THIS TOOL

How did price respond beyond a recent high or low?

Assesses the exploration, the closing response and supporting order flow relative to that reference.

Is a hammer-type structure backed by absorption?

Combines the candle shape with stacked absorption, then projects the absorbed band as a zone.

What does two-sided aggression inside one bar reveal?

Examines aggressive buying at the high and selling at the low, then uses the close to determine direction.

04 / THE RIGHT SETUP

Before you add it.

Rejection runs inside ATAS and works independently. You do not need another Footprint Lab indicator to use it.

WHERE IT FITS

Examine the response at an extreme.

  • Inspect a test beyond a recent high or low.
  • Compare the closing response with the traded order flow.
  • Keep the test within the wider market structure.
KEEP IN MIND

A rejection reading does not prove a stop sweep or guarantee a reversal. Use the wider context to interpret it.

BUILD THE CONTEXT

Place the test in its market structure.

What makes Rejection different from Fail Push?
Rejection starts with a test beyond a recent high or low, then evaluates the price response and order flow. Fail Push examines aggressive effort that struggles to extend price, without requiring the same recent-extreme test. The two readings answer different questions, although they can occur around similar market conditions.
Must the bar close back inside the previous extreme?
A close back inside contributes to the reading, as shown in the illustration. Rejection combines several pieces of evidence; the implementation does not impose a close back inside as a separate mandatory condition for every possible qualifying marker.
Does it use the levels I draw on my chart?
No. It uses a rolling recent high/low reference from earlier bars, with a lookback set by the engine preset. The line in the concept diagram is an explanatory annotation. The indicator does not require a hand-drawn level or automatically draw that illustrated reference line.
Does a rejection prove that stops were swept?
No. Rejection evaluates price and traded volume-at-price data. It does not observe hidden stop orders, confirm a particular trader’s position or identify an iceberg. A qualifying reading also does not guarantee a reversal.
Can the marker change before the bar closes?
Yes. Forming-bar previews are enabled by default and can change or disappear before the close. Turn live previews off for closed-bar-only markers. Changes to settings or chart history can recalculate historical readings.
Can I adjust the display and alerts?
Signal Strength filters marker strength and spacing. Marker style, size, gap and colors are configurable. Alerts start switched off; once enabled, bar-close timing is the default, with an earlier option for forming-bar previews. A score is not a win probability.
Which instruments have automatic presets?
Automatic presets cover NQ/MNQ, ES/MES and CL/MCL/QM. Other instruments use Custom calibration and may need volume-scale adjustment. The chart needs footprint/volume-at-price data at one tick per price level. Rejection works independently; no other Footprint Lab indicator is required.
How do I activate Rejection after purchase?
Supply your ATAS account email at checkout. Access is granted to that account, and the included PDF guide walks through setup. Follow the ATAS activation instructions in the documentation.
